We decided to go downtown for an early dinner, to hopefully avoid the big rush. Well, it wasn't easy to find parking, as the streets were already flooded with Christmas cheer and all who were near..lol. We drove down by the river, found a spot alongside the road and walked up to Main. We decided to eat at Big A's because it's typical American bar food that I knew everyone would enjoy. We got a front window seat, looking right onto Main Street! Billy and I ordered the small version burgers with fries and it was wonderful! Kids got their usual chicken tenders and said the homemade honey mustard was super sweet and delicious. Kids played some thumb wars and sword fights with the mini sword that garnished by olive martini. Lol.
We tried not to overdo it at dinner because we knew we were gonna eat at the new ice cream place called Curls. They smear the flavors out on a frozen marble slab, then scrape it up into "curls" and dish it up with extra toppings. Wow, it was huge and delish!
The rest of the evening was spent wandering the beautifully lit cobblestone streets, making quick jaunts into little stores for gifts, and listening to the carolers sing. Blake even mentioned that he liked hearing the low bass in the quartet. I love that he recognizes this music stuff. Tay wanted to shop more, like visit the soap shop etc, but the boys aren't into shopping OR crowds so we decided to end the evening before getting too cold. I must admit, I was a bit bummed that we came down too late and missed the Santas from around the World parade. AND we were too early for the nativity scene with live animals. Tay did get to pet the cow and donkey on our walk back to the van though. Next year, we will get there early and plan to spend more time.
