Visiting the Grandma's and Grandpa's

It's the day after Christmas and I have soooo much to tell.  But this one is about one of the most important events of our holiday.

Last year we had planned on attending a Christmas Eve service at our new church that we love dearly, but it got cancelled, so we decided to bake cookies and visit a local nursing home instead.  We loved it and decided to make it a tradition.  I started baking the sugar cookies a few days before Christmas.  They turned out beautiful!

We planned to have a "cookie packaging party" and put them in baggies tied with ribbons to give out, but the weather kept us from packaging early.  Actually, the weather postponed us from going Christmas Eve, to going Christmas morining.   So, my Sister and I began the packaging early Christmas morn.    We packaged 100 little cookie bags and since I started feeling not-so-good, Billy and the kids headed out to greet some Grandma's and Grandpa's.

Blake said "Merry Christmas"  to each and every person in the home.  Billy handed out the cookies, and Taylor hid back behind him.  She is shy and I figured she might not talk, but then again, Blake was shy last year and this year he said that he was happy to visit them all just in case they were lonely!!  I just love him to pieces!  I was bummed that I didn't get to go and visit, but as it turns out, it was a good thing, because I am totally sick now and would have absolutely hated to get someone there sick too.

All three of them came home with a joy that only "giving" can cause !!  Merry Christmas !!

  1. Love this! I want to do this next year with my kids. We used to go caroling at the nursing home when I was younger.
